During development of the comfort and energy concept different\nvariants in combination with a hybrid ventilation were evaluated with the help\nof thermal simulations of several room types and a system comparison with the\nsoftware TRNSYS. The hybrid concept treats the areas differently depending on\ntheir usage. In non-laboratory rooms, it is possible to open windows to\nventilate in a natural way; the laboratory areas are supplied with air only\nmechanically. The users of these rooms can individually control their climate in\nthe room by means of a heating element on the air outlet and operable openings\nin the facade.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solid, external shading protects against too much\ndirect sunlight, but directs the light into the interior. Our parametric\nstudies led to the final shaping of the special solid shading. For sun exposure\non the facade we carried out detailed simulations.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>Glazing and internal glare protection complete the\nprotection against too much sun and heat. Natural ventilation (hybrid\nventilation) of all non-laboratory rooms serves as both the supply of fresh air\nand night air flushing of the rooms. In all non-laboratory rooms, solid\nceilings are exposed so that they can absorb thermal loads.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>The component activation allows mainly a\nlow-temperature heating and high-temperature cooling. The hybrid ventilation in\nall non-laboratory rooms with connection to the facade reduces the need for\nmechanical ventilation in these areas.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the labs, mechanical ventilation is minimized\nto the hygienic requirements of fresh air and controlled by usage sensors. A\nreversible heat pump system allows synergistic heat recovery from the\nlaboratories to the non-laboratory rooms.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usage of renewable and existing energy systems\non-site also contributes to sustainability, so that the project resulted in a\nsustainable working environment.</p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"null/static/Agora-57a2dd5d09324b40e8f17129e58a5cd0.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1343\"/></figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The TRNSYS AddOn TRNLizard was used to investigate the effect of differently structured fixed shadings on the comfort inside and the associated energy consumption. After the first detailed setup of the simulation model, further geometric variants were investigated in a very short time by parametric modelling.
